Tip for the New Year:
Where do you fit into this spectrum of desire? Well to find out, consider the following self assessment scale. We will call it our level of desire scales.

0%: I won’t
10%: I can’t
20%: I don’t know how.
30%: I wish I Could.
40%: What is it?
50%: I think I might.
60%: I might
70% I think I can.
80%: I can.
90%: I will.
95%: I did it.
100%: I did it, and I know I can do it again, only this time even better.

How to Master Certain Skill Sets:

Expect Mastery from the start: One of the most important factors to whether a person achieves mastery is their attitude. We can’t go into a field and start by saying, “Whatever happens, happens.” We have to expect mastery from the get-go. There has to be a certain desire or passion for it. The higher the purpose we put on the task, the more attention we will pay on detail through the process of learning the skill. High expectations lead to high results.

Get the Basics understood first: People often make mistakes here. You can’t decide to master a skill without knowing the basics. Similarly, you can’t decide to score 20 points in a game when you don’t have proper shot technique. Everyone wants’ the dazzling skills, the ones that awe everyone in the gym. Unfortunately, they rush past the fundamental steps before reaching that level. Spend as much time possible until each basic skill set is perfected.

Practice until perfection: The step towards perfection is probably going to be the longest step. It is however the most rewarding and all about the practice. Time will include hours and hours until you master the skill desired.

Enjoy the winter season, Spring is just around the corner.

A Word to the Wise
"Skill is the unified force of experience, intellect and passion in their task."
~ Larry Brown
