Dear Coach, Parents, Players
Welcome to this week’s league addition of the JAM League newsletter. As we enter week #6 of our 21st annual fall season, league play has been outstanding. We want to take time to thank the Daniels fund for awarding JAM Basketball with a generous grant this past month.
Coaches please follow up to make sure all your teams’ games get played. Tournament play for Varsity and JV teams begins Saturday October 12th and concludes on Sunday the 13th. If your team has any complications regarding scheduling let our office know today. 9th – 4th grade tournament play dates are Saturday October 19th and Sunday October 20th. A door charge applies for fall and spring League tournaments. No door charge for our tournament series including the Halloween Bash Tournament. Important information regarding our 3rd annual Halloween Monster Bash Tournament can be found online. Our #1 priority for JAM continues helping coaches and parents build confidence in today’s youth. Continue setting goals to make sure plans are in line to improve your game.
Stay tuned for tournament information from “Basketball Alliance of Colorado” Collaboration to benefit youth hoops all along Front Range. March tournament flyer will be available next three weekends.

Nobility of the Sponge
Having a teachable Spirit is like being a sponge. Sponges seem lowly, but what makes them great is how they soak up information while attaining growth in the process. Players accomplish the feat of making themselves sponges, by pursing personal excellence, lead those around them to make everyone better, and compete in a manor that honors the game. Sponges are hungry to learn and constantly searching for ideas to make them better.
True sponges listen, learn and grow. Unfortunately many athletes are not sponges. Think about teammates who think they know everything, who tune out coaches and teammates alike. Ultimately, an indifference to learning and new ideas limits a team’s potential and reduces the fun and purpose of being on a team that works hard together.
Set a great example and be a sponge. The world’s greatest athletes, the world’s greatest in any profession are relentless learners.
Please watch this weeks video clip on defensive tips. Best of luck in the post season and don’t forget to sign up your team for the Halloween Monster Bash Tournament.
