Colorado Basketball Leagues compiled by Ron Fines |
Junior Nuggets/YMCA Basketball League
This is a league that caters to kids who are just learning the game and is a great place to get started. The level of competition is not as high some of the other leagues because the area the league draws its players from is limited. That being said, this makes practice and game locations more convenient. The league is available for kids age 3-17.
Here is a list of the local YMCAs that host leagues.
Southwest/Chatfield Family YMCA 5181 W. Kenyon Avenue Denver, CO 80236 (303) 761-7530 |
Schlessman Family YMCA 3901 E. Yale Avenue Denver, CO 80210 (303) 757-8484 |
Adams County Family YMCA 1500 East 128th Avenue Thornton, CO 80241 (303) 452-9622 |
Littleton YMCA 11 W. Dry Creek Ct. Littleton, CO 80120 (303) 797-9622 |

Gold Crown
This league is a step up, competition wise, from the YMCA league because league rules state that 70% of each team’s roster must attend schools that feed the same high school. The league runs from early January to early March and is available for kids in 6th through 8th grades. Games are played all over the metro area.

Junior Athletics of the Midwest
This is the most competitive league in Colorado and it also draws from the biggest area. Teams from as far east as Vail and Steamboat Springs, as far north as Fort Collins and as far south as Colorado Springs comprise the league. There are no restrictions as to which high school the players on a roster must go to, which allows club teams to enter the league. Games are played all over the Denver metro area for kids who are in 3rd grade through Varsity.
